I decided to do my first and maybe last…Throwback Thursday:
Let’s take it way back to March 2nd, 1996
Debuting at Number One…

Gimme Shelter. All Day.
Honeyed potion in my ear..
Cat or Yusuf, this man’s music is timeless. This is just one of his many masterpieces.
No auto-tune, no 808, no synthesizer, no beat machine, none of that.
I grew up on Hip-Hop, you guys know that, I’ll always love H.E.R.
But, to me, Cat Stevens, just like Bob Marley, really defined meaningful music.
Not that other music wasn’t meaningful, but he had that extra inspiration.
It’s like comparing Pac’ and Lupe. I don’t even know how people compare the two; if you grew up listening to him in the 90s, you’d know what I’m talking about. Lupe is great, I’m not taking anything away from him. Both artists have meaningful music.
But, 2pac had the voice, the influential effect; where even in his interviews you felt like he was reaching out to you. (Alright, I’m going off topic.) That effect, that’s what 2Pac had that other artists didn’t and that’s the exact same effect Cat Stevens has to me.
More folks should really open up to all types of genres. It helps with the wtf feeling you have when you hear me talking about 2Pac and Cat Stevens in the same sentence.
This is pure brilliance, been listening to them for about 3-4 months now. These guys make singing overrated.
